Battlestar Galactica: The Plan – When Will The UK Get it?

Okay, so right now there are countless sites carrying reviews of the new Battlestar Galactica TV movie, The Plan, but no news of a UK air date or DVD/Blu ray release. How come? I would have thought, with Christmas on the way, that the film would get a full release round about now? It came out on October 27th in the US, but what about all of the loyal legions of Battlestar Galactica fans in the UK? For that matter, what about everyone else that loves the series and the characters? We need our fix! Now that the series has ended, these ‘filling in the blanks’ TV movies are the only thing left for diehard BSG fans to look forward to, so when do the UK fans get thrown a bone?

Doctor Who: waters Of Mars Air Date Confirmed

The next Doctor Who special episode, The Waters of Mars, is to be shown on BBC1 on the 15th of November. This was stated by David Tennant and later confirmed. This is to be the last Doctor Who story David Tennant’s tenth Doctor will feature in before the first part of his two-episode exit from the show, namely The End Of Time. While initial footage from The Waters Of Mars wasn’t too enticing, the more we have seen and read about the episode, the better it looks and sounds. This should be fun!

Terminator movie rights up for sale

Feel like having a go at making a better film than the mixed bag that was Terminator Salvation? Feeling rich? Then you may be in look, as the rights to the Terminator movie franchise are about to be auctioned off. It seems that the franchise is in dire straits after the reception of Terminator Salvation, and while the film was better than T3, it didn’t do the same sort of business as the legendary Terminator 2: Judgement Day (then again, could anything replicate the genius of that masterpiece?). The rights to the terminator franchise are up for auction later this month.

Blair Witch 3 on the way?

After the success of Paranormal Activity and similar low budget fare doing so well recently, apparently Eduardo Sanchez is looking to resurrect the Blair Witch Project franchise with a third film that is said to follow on from the first, effectively ignoring the sequel, Blair Witch 2: Book Of Shadows. While doing away with that second film is a great idea, does anyone really care enough to see a third film? Hello?

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA SERIES 4 ACTION FIGURES
Action figures from the fourth series of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s triumphant rebirth will be released in February 2009! These latest Battlestar Galactica action figures include Admiral Adama, President Roslin, and the limited President Lee Adama. Each figure stands approximately 7″ tall and includes articulation and accessories.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: NEW ACTION FIGURES INSTORE

We’ve just had another wave of Battlestar Galactica figures arrive instore. Taken from the hugely popular reimagining of the Battlestar Galactica story, the new figures are even better than previous waves in terms of sculpt and presentation. This new set includes Starbuck, Kat, Helo, Cylon Centurion and a Diamond Select exclusive Tyrol figure. Awesomeness abounds.

PODCASTER’S SUPERHERO NOVEL IS SURPRISE HIT
Playing For Keeps, the superhero podcast series from much loved author and podcaster Mur Lafferty, was released by Swarm Press in a new print edition at the end of August. Mur, whose online fame comes from podcast shows I Should Be Writing, Geek Fu Action Grip and, at one time, Psuedopod, was stunned by the reception the book got upon release. The novel, a great big fun piece of superhero action and comedy drama, rocketed to number 1 in Hot New Releases, number 1 in Science Fiction, number 1 in Action/Adventure and number 16 in Amazon books as a whole. This is another hit from the burgeoning New Media industry, following on from books such as Matthew Wayne Selznick’s Brave Men Run and Scott Sigler’s Infected.

REVIEW: DEADPOOL ISSUE 1
Marvel’s most famous wisecracking assassin is back on our shelves in his very own series. It’s always good to have new Deadpool material out, and this first issue of his ongoing title bodes well for the future with crisp art and a cracking story linked to the Secret Invasion plot. Deadpool is back in a big way, and has brought some serious action scenes with him. Impressive stuff.

WELCOME TO HOXFORD ISSUE 2
The second issue of Ben Templesmith’s psychodrama full of psychos has hit the racks and it is every bit as bloody and unsettling as the debut issue. The madness of the characters is shining through more already, thanks to some seriously unnerving and surreal dream sequences that showcase Templesmith’s art to great effect. While the story isn’t all that subtle, there’s little to fault with this title so far.

STAR WARS: ¼ SCALE DARTH MAUL
The infamous red-and-black Sith apprentice is back in a new quarter scale Star Wars Collectible piece from Diamond Select. Due to stand over 19 inches tall, this is set to be one hell of an imposing piece for all Star Wars fans’ collections. Darth Maul will come with an excellent facial sculpt, layered cloth costume, interchangeable hands and movie authentic accessories.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA RAZOR: CYLON RAIDER STATUE
(Shipping in December) Gentle Giant have really outdone themselves with this high quality eight-inch replica of the Cylon’s notorious craft. Set on a numbered BSG themed base, this classic-themed Cylon Raider is to be limited to just 2,007 pieces.

GEARS OF WAR SERIES 2 BOX SET
The complete box set of all four figures from the second series of GEARS OF WAR merchandise! The next wave of these hugely popular figures is set to contain characters Dominik Santiago, Damon Baird, Theron Guard and Locust with ‘Exploding head’ variant extremity.

RAMBO STATUE
A 1/6 scale statue of John Rambo himself is set to be released in late October. This one is due to be limited to just 500 pieces, and thus will be highly sought after by collectors.
