The first trailer for the third film in the series of Twilight Saga movies based on Stephenie Meyer’s best-selling books is here! This first trailer gives us our first glimpse of scenes from the highly anticipated movie, which is opening this summer, not even a year since New Moon, the second film, was released.

How does the Twilight Saga: Eclipse trailer look? Well, it’s hard to say. It’s clear to see that Summit are yet to complete much of the film’s look, which is why the trailer looks like an advert for a soap opera (well, I suppose it is, really), with only one or two finished effects shots shown.

The trailer doesn’t really instil much hope that this third film is going to be a better made piece of entertainment, but we do live in hope. The performances from Taylor Lautner as Jacob and Robert Pattinson as Edward seem just as wooden as before, but the trailer is still causing paroxisms of delight in the Twilight fan community.

Personally, I think a shorter trailer would have been more effective, as this feels rather padded thanks to the lack of set piece shots, or anything much in particular. It would seem that Kristen Stewart is really finding her feet as an actress now, as her Bella seems to be the only believable character on screen in these things. It’s going to be interesting to watch where her career goes next after the Twilight movies (I can’t wait to see her in the Runaways biopic- that looks awesome).

Summit would really like this to go on as long as possible, wouldn’t they? A feature in variety states that the company are looking into the possibility of turning Breaking Dawn, the final book in the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer, into two movies. Warners are, of course, doing the same thing with the Harry Potter franchise, but it all depends on the success of next year’s movie The Twilight Saga: Eclipse as to whether the fourth book will even be turned into a film.

Aside from whether the demand will still be there for the film(s), there is the content to consider. The fourth book contains material that is completely unfilmable, and if it was filmed, much of what happens would have to be massively rewritten (For those of you that aren’t familiar with it, a fair amount of the book is somewhat horrific, involving a demonic pregnancy with grotesque, harrowing and downright insane results).

There are scenes in there that the general public would find incredibly offensive and damaging to young fans of the Twilight series. There is talk that the story is to be reworked, and the second part of the finale is to set up a spin-off franchise. Either way, this is one project that is going to get a lot of scrutiny.

Wow. Whoever would have thought that there would be another global smash-hit book series so soon after the end of the Harry Potter series? Not just that, but what about such a massively popular film franchise too? New Moon, the second chapter in the cinematic version of The Twilight Saga, is out at cinemas now, and has already toppled any number of records.

Despite the lawsuit that hit Stephenie Meyer over alleged plagiarism, the New Moon movie was able to meet its announced release date, and fans have been flocking to screens all over the world for the next instalment of the romance between vampire Edward Cullen and human Bella Swan.

There have been some big changes between the book and the film, in order to get Edward (Robert Pattinson) on the screen more as the character is barely in the second book. Fans have responded very favourably indeed to these changes, and are lapping up every frame of their vampiric heart throb. Fans of Team Jacob may have a better time with this film though, as Taylor Lautner is regularly without his shirt throughout the film.

New Moon merchandise is flying off the shelves at a dizzying rate, and Twilight fans all over the world are in for a Christmas stuffed with official New Moon collectibles.

The question is: Is it actually any good? The werewolf transformations and CG wolves look atrocious, but the production on the rest of the film looks pretty great. But cinematography isn’t what the fans care about- it’s the story and the characters. I guess that’s something to be grateful for in this age of Twilight fandom- fans are more interested in the characters than the set pieces.

But why is the Twilight saga proving to be so popular? Essentially a glorified soap opera with some vampire elements added to it, it has latched onto an immortal (pardon the pun) strain of fiction that is always popular- the doomed love affair.

It appeals to fans of the romantic element as well as fans of the urban fantasy and vampire element of it. It may not be all that great when you actually think about the elements that it consists of, but as an entertainment phenomenon, The Twilight Saga: New Moon has already taken a sizeable bite out of the competition.

One of the most popular items we’ve had in of late has been the official calendar for the forthcoming Twilight sequel, New Moon. While the calendar from the first film was popular, this new one is even more sought after.

Featuring new images of all the cast, yes, including Robert Pattinson, in their New Moon guises with the new movie logo, the Twilight saga: New Moon 2010 calendar offers something special for the diehard Twilight fan, that will see them the whole way through 2010 and the build up to the Eclipse movie and beyond!

Bryce Dallas Howard is familiar to science fiction movie fans as Gwen Stacy in the abominable Spider-man 3 and as Kate Connor in the less abominable Terminator Salvation. This bit of casting adds some strength to the cast of the Twilight films, which has been a tad lacking on the talent front aside from the two leads.

After seeing Bryce play good characters for a while, it is certainly going to be interesting to see her get her teeth into something a little meatier. I’m not apologizing for puns. It’s going to be fun to watch her vamp it up a bit.
