In news that makes me dance, shout and scream with unadulterated glee, ol’ Stoney Face is heading back to the big screen at long last. That’s right, a new JUDGE DREDD
film has been green-lit from DNA Films, the people behind 28 Weeks Later and the like. This is great news, as it means we are hopefully in for a much harder edged Judge Dredd movie than the 1995 Stallone version.
While that first Judge Dreddfilm was great for the first twenty minutes, the rest of it strayed so far from the character and his legendary 2000ad comic incarnation that it pretty much ruined Dredd for many fans. Hopefully this one will stick to the roots of the character a bit closer. Who should play Dredd? JASON STATHAM SHOULD. Yeah. That’d rock. If you look at him, he has the perfect facial structure (as well as the presence), closely resembling the art of original Dredd Story-wise, many fans would love to see Dredd face off against the Dark Judges, and how about throwing in Psi Judge Anderson too please?
While you’re at it, film types, how about bringing us movies of ROGUE TROOPER, STRONTIUM DOG, SLAINE, DURHAM RED or ABC WARRIORS? Oh, and a personal favourite that would be awesome as a film- ARMOURED GIDEON!!!
