Doctor Who theme voted best theme tune of all time
The unmistakable theme tune to Doctor Who has been voted the best Science Fiction theme of all time in an online poll. Quite rightly so, too. The chilling thrum of the bass and the soaring high notes are certainly the most recognizable theme on TV, and though each version differs throughout the show’s history, it always plays around the same central notes, and as such it has worked its way deeply into the popular culture consciousness.
The unforgettable work of the BBC Radiophonic workshop, and in particular people such as the genius Delia Derbyshire was responsible for the original version of the Doctor Who theme, an its popularity is an appropriate legacy for a very talented group of creators.
