AVATAR: Reviews start to leak despite embargo
![]()
The first reviews of James Cameron’s epic science fiction movie AVATAR have started to leak online despite the embargo on reviews until the movie’s release date. The reactions I’ve found so far range from positive to mind-blowingly awestruck, and I can’t wait to join in the fun and see this film once it hit general release. From the concept and the designs of the creatures to the script and the cast, everything about this film has piqued my interest, and I am so pleased it is living up to the masses of hype surrounding it.
To think that a huge, epic science fiction movie with a message can garner such praise and attention here in this cynical and self-important age warms my heart, and I am sure that in years to come this film will become as revered as Aliens and Terminator 2. There are elements from what I’ve seen so far that really remind me of Cameron’s classic The Abyss, but that’s probably down to all those different blues in the colour palette. Avatar looks truly amazing, and the fears of it looking cartoonish have been shot down by the repeated mantra of ‘wait ’til you see it in 3D’. I can see that making a huge difference to the AVATAR movie experience, as that was one of the main driving forces behind the creation of the film. When James Cameron sets out to do something, you know he’s going to deliver, and you know he is going to push the envelope. From the leaked reviews, it would seem that once again he has brought us a film that defines an era of the medium and will see moviemaking technology leap forward once again. Here’s to the adventures of a visionary. Now, Mr Cameron, how about an interview? Pretty please?
