Cameron to unveil Avatar at San Diego Comic Con
One of the biggest things that people will be wanting to check out at this year’s San Diego Comic Con will be the public’s first real look at James Cameron’s new science fiction epic AVATAR.
This is genuinely one of the most hotly anticipated films in years, as it sees James Cameron return to the director’s chair after a lengthy hiatus, as well as utilizing some truly incredible 3D and CG technology that promises to be quite unlike anything that has been seen before. Twenty minutes have been shown to exhibitors and film distributors this week, and it is said that this will be the same footage that is to be screened at SDCC this Thursday.
This footage has already been shown to a select few elsewhere, and the reception has generally been awestruck across the board. You know you’re in for a feast whenever James Cameron’s name is attached to a project, but judging from the character designs, the synopsis and the test stills we’ve seen, Avatar looks as though it may very well be a defining moment in contemporary genre cinema.
Yeah, that’s something that is bandied around a lot, but in this case it’s true. Avatar looks like it will be a huge event movie that nobody will want to miss.
Keep an eye out for our coverage of the SDCC reaction to the AVATAR footage!
Sideshow Collectibles will also be showing off Aliens movie merchandise at the event, based on James Cameron’s legendary sequel to Alien.
