HE-MAN AND THE MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE- DIRECTOR ANNOUNCED
I have the poweeeeeeeerrrrrr!!!!!!!!! Ahem. Word has got out that the much-touted new feature film of He-man and the Masters of the Universe has found its director. That’ll be John Stevenson, known as director of KUNG FU PANDA, with Joel Silver producing.
This would be Stevenson’s first live action movie. No word on whether or not this project still involves the script by Justin Marks though. I hope it does, as Mr Marks does seem to be the new geek messiah when it comes to genre movies like this. I believe he’s also done the script for the VOLTRON live action film as well as a bunch of other forthcoming delights. He certainly seems to know his stuff.
You know, I have a great deal of fondness for the He-Man franchise. The cartoon, watched now, is ridiculously cheesy but oh so much fun. The 1986 live action Masters of the Universe film, notoriously starring Dolph Lundgren as He-Man, was fantastic. Yes, it was. Screw your movie fan elitism- that film was great and the kid inside you knows it too. In fact, go and watch it now and admit I’m right. Then watch the cartoons. You will thank me for it.
