SAN DIEGO COMIC-CON UNDERWAY!
Well, geeks all over the world are now lapping up the news and pics that those lucky &%$£@#s that got to go to this year’s San Diego Comic Con are putting up, and it certainly seems to be a bumber year for good stuff. Mind you, the absence of things like Transformers 2 and the like from the panels is a tad odd. That said., there is a ton of coolness being unleashed upon fans at the moment, and for those of you not in attendance we’ll try and keep track of what’s going on! I swear I’m going to try and make it to next year’s shenanigans, but this time I’m with the rest of you, viewing it from afar. Seems that the big thing at the Con is undoubtedly WATCHMEN, so no surprises there. Right, what has grabbed our attention so far from the projects talked about at the Con? Read on…
WOLVERINE MOVIE FOOTAGE SHOWN AT SDCC!
Hugh Jackman mde a surprise appearance onstage, and after a speech thanking fans for his career, showed an exclusive teaser made up of completed shots from the forthcoming X-men Origins: Wolverine movie! Sadly I’ve been unable to find the footage itself, but there are many videos of Hugh’s intro available on various video sites. From various reviews it sounds like the footage went down a storm, and bodes well for the curious project. Fans got to see Logan and Victor side by side, Gambit, Weapon X, flashbacks and even footage of the young William Stryker. It sounds very evocative of the comics, and looks set to be a huge crowd pleaser once it gets a release.
RED SONJA: FIRST GLIMPSE OF ROSE McGOWAN
The first image of Rose McGowan as the flame-haired heroine RED SONJA has been revealed at SDCC, and she looks stunning, if not particularly, well, heroic. The poster has been put up as an exclusive over on MTV’s site. What do you think? Personally I don’t think she looks like she can handle a sword. I mean, she can’t even seem to dress herself. Sheesh. I wonder if it’ll be as much cheesy fun as the Brigitte Nielsen version from the 80s? Only time will tell.
TORCHWOOD MAN TO BECOME AVENGER?
This amused us no end, and if you think about it, it could be awesome. Apparently is was put to John ‘Captain Jack Harkness’ Barrowman that he should be Captain America in the forthcoming big screen adaptation, and what was his answer? Apparently his ‘people’ have been in talks about that very project. Could Captain Jack be donning the red, white and blue in the future? I think that would be brilliant, but just keep an eye on him around the ladies. And the men. And the aliens. Especially the aliens. Heh, Suddenly a whole universe of prospective Avengers/Torchwood fanfic has just been born. I’m sorry ;P

LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT- HAS IT BEEN FOUND?
According to this report, a print of the long-lost Holy Grail of horror cinema, LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT, has been discovered in cans labelled ‘the Hypnotist’. This is enormous news if true. The movie, one of the original silent horror classics, has only existed in the form of still photographs for decades after its last surviving prints were lost in a studio fire. Apparently another print of the film has surfaced, and fans are already up in arms trying to get it restored and preserved and out for film buffs to enjoy. This really is huge if it turn out to be the real thing- the film has long since been seen as the ultimate piece of lost cinema history.
