TARDISWATCH SPECIAL: SERIES END TRAILER
So, thanks to the pointless waste of time, money and airtime that is the Eurovision Song Contest, we have had to go without a new episode of Doctor Who this week. Thankfully, the BBC have been kind and have seen fit to cut together a brand new trailer consisting of clips from the final few episodes of this series. The clips seem to be largely from the forthcoming Steven Moffat penned two parter and the final two episodes, featuring, as leaked, rumoured and talked about for months, the return of the Daleks and… Davros. It seems that the rumours that Davros has been stealing planet are true, with that shot of Bernard Cribbins stating that the stars are going out. This is going to be interesting. I’m eager to find out whether Dalek Caan (last seen in series 3’s Evolution of the Daleks) did go to find the dormant Davros and bring about the creation of a new race of Daleks. Remember, Caan was supposed to be the last Dalek in existence, and Davros was still alive oust there somewhere following the destruction of Skaro in the classic Doctor Who series story Remembrance of the Daleks.
There are some great morsels in the trailer, and it is wonderful to see Rose Tyler with her huge gun. There also seems to be a big FX moment for Donna- did you spot the shot of some form of energy glowing around her? This is intriguing, especially after the statement early in the series that she ‘has something on her back’. What, or who, does Donna have hiding within her? The Master? The Rani? As long as she isn’t a Slitheen I’ll be happy. It is certainly looking like we’re in for one hell of a series finale. Nice to see they didn’t give that much away about who is going to show up in the finale. That shot of Davros coming out into view is incredible- I can’t wait to see his new visage in full!
