AVP3… ITS ON!
Well there you have it folks, the third in the equally loved and maligned Alien Vs Predator series is on the way, as let slip by a nameless Fox employee. Granted, this isn’t that surprising really, but it is still cool to know that the thing is coming, and not only that, but there has now been confirmation that the third film will be taking place in the airless battleground of space. Here’s hoping there’s a nice fat derelict spacecraft in there, and some marines. Yeah, the movie needs some old-school marines like the classic bunch from ALIENS.
Personally I’d love an ACTUAL Alien Vs Predator movie with no humans in it at all. Think about it. The two creatures are enough of a draw themselves, so why not cut out everyone’s complaints about the human characters of these films and eradicate them completely? Not only would it give audiences something completely new and exciting to see, it would also give the makers a real opportunity to be creative in terms of structure and storytelling.
It needn’t be a constant FX fest either. Looks at the first films in each respective franchise. Those movies were based around tension and moments of “Did I actually see that?” So, why not give us 90 minutes of actual scares and tension, mixed with some asskicking set pieces that would give the series back a chunk of the credibility it lost with the last two films. Give it some thought Fox, please!
